From A.(P.C.) to Z(zzzzz)

Ever the purveyor of Parisian chic, French fashion label A.P.C. has issued its second line of quilts using leftover archived fabrics from the design house.

These graphic modern beauties are being produced in collaboration with Jessica Ogden (designer for APC Madras) in a very limited collection. Now if only they made sleepwear...

The Hartwood in Tulum, Mexico

Todd Selby (of theselby.com) is on the go lately for his new
series Edible Selby. These photo stories profile creative food
people on location in their restaurant/cafe/market/home.

I'm not sure what Tulum, Mexico is like, but
from these photos it looks like Paradise:

Portraits of a Patroness

Dominique de Menil, along with her husband John, became a collector of art after moving from Paris to Houston, Texas on the brink of the Second World War.

The more than 15,000 art works that they amassed since the 1940s (from antiquities to contemporary art) are now housed in The Menil Collection that Dominique opened in 1987 after the passing of her husband. The building itself is a modern architectural landmark by Italian architect (and one of my favourites) Renzo Piano. It seamlessly combines an institutional setting for viewing artwork with the domestic scale that Dominique desired.

The de Menils associated themselves with many of the great artists of the Modern era (Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Jasper Johns, Mark Rothko), including these three artists who rendered Dominique de Menil in portraits:

Andy Warhol, 1969

Max Ernst, 1934

Alexander Calder, 1964

Sweet treats: Rice Krispies aux beurre noisette

These are brilliant (why have I not come across them before?!). Side-by-side colour renderings of portraits, paintings, and other visual goodies via Miss Moss.

A well-curated and quirky collection of curiousities.

Variations on a colour theme: turquoise kitchens.

How to create the perfect cheese plate. A simple but brilliant guide.

Such a great DIY project if you're feeling crafty this week.

April Showers

Like some kind of April Fool's prank, the rain (and um, freezing rain pellets) is here with a vengeance after such a lovely sunny and mild day yesterday.

The antidote to heading into a very wet weekend? Hot tea and pretty rain gear.
